BANGKOK – The Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore has made a courtesy call to the Thai Prime Minister during his official visit to Thailand, says spokesman.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Co-ordinating Minister for National Security of Singapore Teo Chee Hean has made a courtesy call to Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, as part of his official working visit to Thailand during 29-31 May 2016.
The Deputy Government Spokesman Maj Gen Werachon Sukondhapatipak revealed that the Singaporean DPM has expressed his gratitude to be able to welcome Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to Singapore on January, and was delighted that the Thai Prime Minister had agreed to speak at the Shangri-La Dialogue 15th Asia Security Summit on 3 June 2016, as invited by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).
On this occasion, the Prime Minister is reported to have praised the close ties between Thailand and Singapore in the areas of security and military to help contribute to the ASEAN Political-Security Community. The Prime Minister was also satisfied with both countries’ cooperation, especially on the Civil Service Exchange Programme (CSEP).
The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology is set to sign in a Memorandum of Understanding with Singapore’s Ministry of Communications and Information later today during the IMBX Ministerial Forum on ICT, in an attempt to enhance cyber security to be ready to safeguard both nations against present threats, and help suppress ideologies of extremism circulating on the internet.
