Banglamung’s district chief encouraged voters to head to the polls Aug. 7 to cast their ballot in the constitutional referendum.
Chakorn Kanjawattana led an educational briefing on the draft constitution June 20 at Nongprue Kindergarten that was monitored by soldiers from the 14th Military Circle.
As per the Referendum Act, no lobbying or advocacy of voting for or against the proposed charter was allowed. The briefing was simply aimed at informing local residents of the provisions included in the document.
Each of the Pattaya area’s 44 communities sent four representatives. They, in turn, were instructed to impartially educate neighbors.
The lecture discussed the 10 most significant clauses in the proposed constitution, which include liberty and rights protection, protection of human rights, civilian duties, elections, right of civilians to become senators, corruption suppression, the Constitution Court and independent agencies, qualifications for prime minister, and reform.
