Wednesday, June 22 Green Valley Stableford

Green Valley with skies not looking too good but it turned out only bluffing as we got no rain. The course is in great condition at the moment with the rain doing its job nicely. The fairways were lush with new growth and the greens whilst just being sanded still putted true.

Our thanks to George Barrie for looking after the guys today. Even though Capt. Bob tossed a few surprises at him he managed very well indeed to rearrange the field to suit.

The scores were good with only a few golfers getting less than 30 points. We did, however, have a standout winner, but we will get to that in a minute. Coming in 3rd place was Bill Eyles with 37 points on a three way count back. 2nd place went to J.P. Maffray with 38 points.

Our standout winner with 43 points, his first time scoring under 90 gross, was Kolourful Kick A Kevin with 43 points. That by the way was an 88 off the stick. Well done mate a hearty congratulations frame that card.

Friday, June 24 Plutaluang Stableford

Arriving at Plutaluang golf course for our monthly scramble in pouring rain, after inspecting the course it was deemed unplayable. With 9 teams trying to work out where we could possibly play, my good friend Nat from the Phoenix golf course made room for us at his course and we drove there.

There were a few dropouts saying we don’t play in this weather, and they were the ones that missed out as we got no rain and the course was in great condition. Thank you Nat for making my group so welcome.

With the field reduced to 7 groups, it turned out to be a fine day, although a little hot at times. Coming in 2nd place was the team of Nat, Gordon, Auke and Steve with a net score of 59.7. Taking the top spot were the Billabong boys Bill Marsden, Gary Ritchie, Chris Dodd and Bob Philp with a score of 58.3, and we left a few out there.

All in all it was a good fun day out. A bell ring was the order of the day and all enjoyed their bevy.
