Monday, June 27, Burapha C & D – Stableford
Playing the tough C & D course, our touring Kiwis consisting of John Low, Dion Lane, and Carl Thompson played really well with all three of them in the top 4 spots. It was a very rare “early night” the previous evening, a rare occasion and with scores all better than handicap, it’s certainly not something that I’ve seen from these three. Is there a correlation between early night and good golf – “Nah”, is the definite answer you’ll get from them. Jimmy Little did well to sneak in with a third spot in between the Kiwis.
Bob Lindborg has been on very good form since his eye operation, and he his handicap has been plummeting down over the last few weeks, however there was no podium place for him, but what he did get right today, was the only ‘2’ in all the field.

Playing the best value course in town our 3 groups made it out there with the usual time, all except for Eddie Beilby who got trapped in a school parade on the way there, causing him to get to the course just before the last group teed off.
Welcome to Steve Mann’s friends, Ken Homan and Wayne Hanson, who had a decent time out on the course today with them recording 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Sugar Ray came through as the overall winner today with 35 points.

Green Valley – Charity Golf Day
A great day and for a great cause! It was a birthday party and charity golf day rolled into one. 70 players joined us for a scramble comp at Green Valley for a great and fun day with fabulous prizes allocated on each hole. There were even prizes for the hookers and slicers, since an OB shot on certain holes qualified the player for a free green fee voucher!
Scores were not your typical “ambrose” low, with 3rd place going to Team Bluevein with Greg Hirst leading the team of Andy Fromholz, Per Lovgren and Shaun Pullen to a score of 60.5 and earning some nice prizes sponsored by Pattaya Sport Club. In 2nd place, with net 60 was Simon Philbrook’s team consisting of Bob Newell, Mike Meyer and George Jackson. Winning top honours today was the quartet of Eddie Beilby, Tony Oaks, Sugar Ray Handford and Mickey Leighton. Great job guys!
For our charity function, a great thank you to our primary sponsor, Chaiseri Group, and our second largest sponsor Pattaya Sport Club. The final tally for our charity fund was: Competition fees: THB 17,500, Raffle THB 32,300 and donations THB 108,000 giving us a total of THB 157,800.
Our philosophy at the Outback is not to just collect the money and pass it on. We get directly involved in the procurement of goods at the best prices, and we make sure that every Baht goes towards improving the future prospects of these kids so that they can contribute to society in a positive way when they grow up. The hearing aids will go a long way towards helping these kids live a normal productive life, which is our primary objective. With half the job done in raising the money, we will see the rest through and ensure that those who donated will get complete peace of mind for their contributions. Thanks again!
