BANGKOK, 2 July 2012 – President of Thailand Trade Representatives OlarnChaipravat has suggested that Thai entrepreneurs avail themselves to new technology to improve the quality of their products, especially those in the garment and textile industry.
Mr.Olarn said during Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s weekly TV program last Saturday that the products that were facing tough times and in need of adjustment include ready-to-wear clothes and textiles. He remarked that it was necessary for the entrepreneurs to raise the standards of their products through the use of technology, so that they would be of better quality and more fashionable.
The president has further suggested that those entrepreneurs having difficult times coping with higher minimum wages in Thailand should consider relocating their production bases to the neighboring countries, where labor costs are lower.
Meanwhile, Energy Minister Arak Chonlatanon has talked about the government’s assistance measures for energy entrepreneurs, saying that the government has already set up an energy conservation fund aimed at helping the entrepreneurs through many projects. As for the energy restructuring program, he said it would take another two months to consider the program in detail.
