The Prime Minister has called for calm following multiple explosions in the nation, giving an assurance that the government is in control of the situation, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it has not yet issued a report to the international community as the situation remains unclear.
Prime Minister Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha has urged the public not to worry about peace in the nation and asked them not to pressure authorities as they work to manage the situation. He instead suggested the media and citizens join the government to work against those of ill-will who are threatening the country’s peaceful state. The premier assured the public that the government is working to the utmost to ensure stability in the nation and indicated Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs Gen Prawit Wongsuwan had called a meeting with all relevant agencies.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Don Poramudwinai acknowledged that the explosions were unexpected but said no embassies in Thailand have yet sought further information. He stated his office would not issue a briefing on the events until more clarity is achieved while assuring all people that care is being provided to those affected both Thai and foreign. (NNT)
