PSC Golf from Colin’s Bar
Sunday, August 7, Green Valley – Stableford
A Flight
1st Gary Emmett (19) 43pts
2nd Ian Pickles (15) 42pts
3rd Frank Jelmo (7) 39pts
B Flight
1st New Satita (30) 36pts
2nd Jez Lees (20) 34pts
3rd Allan Bargison (23) 34pts
2’s: Christen Boysen, New Satita, Frank Jelmo, Gary Emmett & Jeff Acheson.
We had a good turnout today with 17 players at Green Valley. The weather was overcast and perfect for golf – or for some at least.
Gary Emmett was the star of the day with a sparking 43 points and left a stunned Ian Pickles in second place with an almost equally fine 42-pointer. Frank Jelmo was third with a paltry looking 39 points.
New Satita topped division 2 with an even par round and was 2 clear of Jez Lees in second place. Jez, renowned for his quality short game, tried to chip in on the 12th hole but caught it a bit thin and the ball headed straight for playing partner Bruce Walters who quickly dived out of the way, but left his hand in the air. Ball struck thumb and that was the end of Bruce’s round – he was last seen driving one handed down the 36.
Monday, August 8, Greenwood C & B – Stableford
A Flight
1st Ian Pickles (15) 38pts
2nd Mick Coghlan (20) 34pts
B Flight
1st Brad Robins (22) 41pts
2nd Torben Lindgaard (29) 38pts
Near Pins: Dennis Freeman.
14 players today for Greenwood but the course was not in the best of condition. With the A course closed they had top dressed the C nine and the overnight rain had soaked it completely and all the bunkers were full of water with nowhere to get a relief drop. They also seemed to have had trouble with the greens as there were repairs everywhere.
Ian Pickles carried on where he left off Sunday at Green Valley and fired 38 points to take top spot in A Flight ahead of Mick Coghlan in second.
Star of the day was Brad Robins with his B Flight winning 41 points, three up on Torben Lindgaard in second.
Friday, August 12, Burapha A & B – Stableford
A Flight
1st Mike Ominy (8) 41pts
2nd Ian Pickles (15) 39pts
B Flight
1st Torben Lindgaard (30) 43 pts
2nd Iain Jones (24) 41pts
Near Pins: Barry Oats & Christen Boysen.
Long Putts: Aidan Murray.
Four 4-balls out today on the Queen’s birthday but Burapha kept the usual rate for us.
Torben Lindgaard made up for his disappointment of missing out on Monday with a day’s best 43 points to claim the B Flight honours. He was followed up the podium steps by Iain Jones with an also impressive 41 points off his 24-handicap.
Mike Omiya, playing off 8, also recorded 41 points to take the A Flight and was 2 clear of Monday winner Ian Pickles in second place.
Aidan Murray holed a monster on the last to snatch the long putt prize from the Donkey.
