Waiting with her group of about 20 friends was 20-year-old Kanika Mingkwan, who admitted beating up her co-worker at the Soi 6 bar. She was arrested on assault charges.

The brawl, which involved dozens of drunk and angry bargirls, broke out following a simmering dispute between Kanika, who recently began work at the bar, and Janipa, who allegedly was bullying her.

The two had exchanged slaps and insults earlier in the day, but the match that lit the after-work melee was Janipa allegedly pointed her foot – a severe insult in Thai culture – at Kanika.

When the bar closed, the attacker claimed she was dragged out of the bar by Janipa’s friends, so she grabbed a bottle to defend herself. She admitted smashing the bully in the face with the bottle and then stabbing her.
