Queen Sirikit Naval Medical Center handed out more than 250,000 baht in scholarships to support children of the Plutaluang facility’s employees.
Surgeon General Vice Adm. Kanin Chumworathayee emceed the Aug. 22 donation to students with good academic records and demonstrated financial hardships.
Of the total 62 scholarships handed out, 48 went to hospital employee families, while another 10 went to students in local schools, two to students at Navy Nursing College, and two to cadets in the Naval Rating School’s Medical Corps program.
The stipends included 35 primary school awards of 3,000 baht, 18 high school scholarships of 4,000 baht and five higher-education stipends of 6,000 baht. The nursing and medical corps students received 10,000 baht each.
Kanin said the scholarships would support expenses to help students’ families and hopefully will result in youths growing to become qualified and moral adults.
