The seventh round of the GP3 Series took place at the cathedral of speed, Autodromo di Monza in Italy last weekend. Thai driver Sandy Stuvik took P5 in Friday’s free practice and the pace was looking good for the weekend.
Qualifying took place on Saturday morning and Stuvik finished in a difficult 12th place, after a red flag during the session compromised his efforts.
Race 1 on Saturday afternoon saw Stuvik finish in 12th place after a lot of position changes and an exciting race on the fast Monza circuit.
Race 2 on Sunday morning saw the Thai driver have a difficult start, but during the course of the race he managed to climb his way up to 6th position after starting 12th. During a battle for places with other drivers Stuvik was involved in a collision and dropped down to 12th. After race penalties he was eventually classified as finishing 15th.
“It was a tough weekend, we showed that we were fast and we got the second fastest lap of the race, but now we’ll have to investigate why our starts are not as good as before. Our race pace has now improved and I’m excited for Sepang in a month’s time” Stuvik said afterwards.
