PSC golf from The Golf Club

Monday, July 9, Green Valley (White tees) – Stableford

1st Dale Shier (13) 39pts

2nd Henry O’ Brien (20) 38pts

3rd Grant Cadell (16) 36pts

Let’s take a moment to review the way a scorecard should be submitted, shall we?  First, your name filled in would be a good start.  We get cards with initials of the scorer and his partner all the time and have to backtrack by the process of elimination to figure out who it might be.  Fill in your card with your full name (first & last) in block letters, your current handicap, your PSC number and your score circled at the top of the card.

Also, circle a 2 if there is a 2’s comp.  This will ensure entry in the comp you have paid for, otherwise you may be disqualified.

A double for Dale Shier. A double for Dale Shier.

Right, now on to the golf, or should we call this week the Dale Shier show?  The affable Anglo was on form through the rain as we were faced with a soggy week of golf.  It is unusual for this time of year (September being the most rainfall) and as I look outside the window at this writing, it is a beautiful sunny day out there!

Dale finished first, Henry O’Brien was frustrated with being just one shot behind for second place, and Grant Cadell rounded out the list for a third with a handicap equaling 36 points.

Thursday, July 12, Phoenix 9-Holes (White tees) – Stableford

1st Dale Shier (13) 18 points

2nd Henry O’ Brien (20) 16 points

3rd Mark Reynolds ( ) 14 points

The Shier Show continued this week with a double victory for Khun Dale, and a double 2nd place finish for Henry O’ Brien!  This ended up being a 9-hole comp as the rain continued unabated at Phoenix and all decided enough was enough.

This is one of the very few times we have been rained out completely.  If you are reading this from afar, Pattaya has a wonderful micro climate with heavy rain coming in the late afternoon for about 30-45 minutes, then clearing.  September and part of October get the most rainfall and we usually can play on afterwards as the courses here in Pattaya are sandy based and drain quite well.  This week there was a huge tropical storm over all of SE Asia, so we got the tail end of that one!

Thanks to all who braved the weather and see you for next week’s comps and romps.
