A Thai motorcyclist died when he slammed his motorbike into a British man’s pickup truck on a dark stretch of East Pattaya roadway.
The unidentified man in his 20s died instantly in front of the Siam Lek View development in Nongprue’s Moo 4 village.
The driver of the Ford Ranger, Edward George Hensher, 76, said that he was driving along from Mabprachan Reservoir and turned into the estate where he lived, and heard a sudden crash.
It was very dark and he didn’t see the bike coming from behind. He immediately called police after the incident.
Neighbors said there have been many accidents in the area as lights have been removed during road construction and Thai youths race their bikes at high speed through the area.
They urged public officials to install temporary lighting, which also would deter crime.
