Pattaya Hospital practiced evacuating patients from high floors in case of a fire.
Surapol Sawatvichien, chief of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, and hospital emergency chief Bandit Nantasook led firefighters and volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation in the Sept. 2 exercise.
Since Pattaya Hospital opened, its patient count has grown, so, to meet safety standards, the hospital staff joined firefighters to practice real-life evacuations to ensure safety for all patients.
Training took place on the fourth floor, evacuating patients from the VIP suite and other rooms. Drills included how to use equipment, move beds, properly carry out patients, which route to use and how to use fire hydrants.
The next step taught staffers who to contact for support and how to calmly analyze the scene before fire trucks arrived from the building next door to the hospital.
