Supranee Jekmatan, 47, said she had relentlessly entered contests on a Facebook page she believed was run by the Ichitan herbal tea retailer, hoping to win a million baht.

Lo and behold, she eventually was contacted by the anonymous page owner, saying she had won the grand prize. All she needed to do was put 3,000 baht on an electronic money card and send it in.

Thinking 3,000 baht in exchange for a million was an incredible deal, Supranee sent off the money, but no baht came back her way.

The woman contacted Ichitan to discover they had never contacted her about any contest nor received any money cards. She then realized she’d been scammed and contacted Pattaya police.

Supranee admits she likely won’t get her cash back, but filed charges as a warning to others to beware online scams.
