City, PWA consider water pipeline to Koh Larn

City and Provincial Waterworks Authority officials are considering a plan to pipe water from Pattaya to Koh Larn.

At a July 16 planning meeting, city hall and PWA representatives discussed colla- boration to build a pipeline from the mainland to service the island’s 2 million annual visitors, hotels and residents.

Deputy Permanent Secretary Sutham Phetket led the session with city architects and engineers from the city and utility company. They discussed designs and studies to resolve water-scarcity problems on the island.

Initial estimates set the cost at 20 million baht for the pipeline and water stations on each shoreline. Officials will continue to study environmental impacts over the next 90 days.
