National Security Council meets in Pattaya on marine security

Coastal protection and preservation were on the agenda when the National Security Council met with Royal Thai Navy and coastal resources administrators in Pattaya.

Anusit Khunakorn, deputy secretary-general, chaired the Jan. 21 meeting at the A-One Royal Cruise Hotel to begin deliberations on the renewal of Thailand’s strategy for marine stability. A large number of business interests and government bureaucrats were on hand to listen and provide input on the 2011-2016 plan.

The draft strategy covers development of national marine security stability capabilities related to coastal sovereignty; protection of personal assets on the coastline, promotion of sustainable development, environmental balance, revive marine resources, and responsibilities of various government agencies.
