Despite heavy early morning rain in Pattaya that deterred many fair weather golfers from venturing out of their nests, the day turned out beautiful at Green Valley and those that made the effort were well rewarded with a nice cool day.

The Irish lads won the honours as Gerry ‘the Irish rover’ Hughes was the man of the match with a splendid 40 points.  Gerry was followed up the podium steps by fellow Irishman Pat Reagan with a fine 37 points while the minor flight places went to a count back, with Eddy ‘the Eagle’ Beilby and Don ‘the ladies’ man’ Lehmer tied on even par rounds.  When the mud had settled it was the Eagle who was perched on the third podium step looking down on Don.

Monday, Sept. 26, Pattana – Stableford

1st Robert Baird (31) 40pts

2nd Adam Barton (16) 40pts

3rd Kevin Rogers (11) 31pts

Yes, another visit to our regular Monday venue Pattana and with a fair turnout considering it was back to back playing days.  The course was in fine condition as always and the scoring was slightly better than our last visit.

It turned out to be an excellent day for Robert Baird and Adam Barton as both shared the man of the match honours with splendid 40-point returns.  The count back dictated that Robert got to stand on the top rung of the ladder.  Robert and Adam were nine strokes clear of Kevin ‘the thunder from down under’ Rogers.

Wednesday, Sept. 28, Khao Kheow B & C – Stableford

1st Peter Henshaw (25) 40pts

2nd Kevin Rogers (10) 40pts

3rd Gerard Gianan (5) 33pts

A small but dedicated group took on Khao Kheow, the favourite course of many that was in fine condition.  The weather was overcast and very humid and we were allotted the B & C nines.

Peter ‘the silver surfer’ Henshaw was the man who had most to shout about as he stole the show with a blistering 40 points.  It had to be that good as he needed the aid of a count back over the unlucky Aussie Kevin Rogers.  The flight podium was rounded out by Gerard Guinan with 33 points.

Friday, Sept. 30, Burapha – Stableford

1st William Peach (23) 38pts

2nd Peter Henshaw (24) 37pts

3rd James Brackett (7) 36pts

4th Kevin Rogers (10) 36pts

A much larger field left Lewiinski’s to take on the formidable Burapha, and were allotted the A & B nines for the last outing of the month.  The course played very well according to the scores and certainly for Bill Peach who took the man of the match honours with a fine 38 points.  Bill was one stroke clear of Peter ‘the silver surfer’ Henshaw who posted back to back podium visits.

Three players were tied on even par rounds; big Jim Brackett, Kevin ‘the thunder from down under and Scotland’s Mark ‘the quite one’ Wood.  The count back dictated that Jim picked up the bronze as Kevin closed the flight with the extra podium spot, leaving Mark at sea level and you know what.

Back at Lewiinski’s Peter welcomed back Aussie Lindsay Semple.
