Thai delegates woo investors in Paris

PARIS – Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak has led a group of delegates to Paris to attract potential investors, as part of the government’s policy to boost this year’s foreign investment in Thailand.

The Thai delegates met with the Business Federation of France, MEDEF, to present Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor Development plan in Chachoengsao, Chonburi, and Rayong. French businesses had expressed interest in investing in Thailand, particularly in the biotechnology and healthcare industries. Meanwhile, French civil aircraft manufacturer Airbus has expressed interest in a joint investment program in an aircraft maintenance center.

Mr Somkid has tasked the Board of Investment with compiling a list of needs expressed by various sectors to be presented to the Thai cabinet before the scheduled visit of French investors to Thailand on October 11-13.
