Students from Garden International School (GIS) celebrated Talk Like a Pirate Day by discussing pieces of eight, the skull and crossbones – and making their favourite teachers “walk the plank”.

Led by Languages’ Prefect Narisa, the IB students dressed as pirates and swashbucklers on September 19. Beforehand, students had voted online for which teachers should be made to walk the plank. It was decreed that Ms Smith, Mr Nolan, Mr Frost, Mr Whittaker, Mr Carr and Ms Kilvington-Shaw should be made to take the dreaded walk.

It was also a chance to promote the school’s Secondary production, Peter Pan, which takes place from November 16-18. The pirate day included a cameo by Captain Hook himself, who will be returning to school soon to start in the play!
