Vice Adm. Nopadol Supakorn, commander of Sattahip Naval Base, and senior navy officials volunteered Oct. 20 to dye clothing black for mourners and teach them how to make black ribbons, which can be worn as an alternative to black and white attire.

A massive number of Sattahip residents took advantage of the offer as prices for black clothing skyrockets and supplies dwindle.

Nopadol said the Navy joined with the Informal Education Institute of Sattahip to host the project where students and navy personnel offered free dying services to honor the late HM the King.

The project was mainly aimed at supporting families that don’t have enough mourning clothing and cannot afford to buy more.

At the end of the project, 15,000 pieces of clothing were dyed.
