Eastern residents flocked to city, district and provincial halls to express their condolences for passing of HM the King.

In Pattaya, Acting Mayor Chanapong Sriviset led city councilors and the public in signing the condolence books set out on city hall’s second floor. The books are available for signing from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

Chanapong advised everyone wanting to come to sign the books to dress in appropriate clothing, with black, white or muted colors preferred.

In Chonburi, Gov. Pakara­thorn Thienchai presided over an Oct. 18 ceremony to open condolence books at the provincial hall.

The books can be found on the first floor and, again, those attending are instructed to wear proper attire.

Bangsrai Temple also has opened condolence books for people who cannot make it to the provincial office.

Some were not content simply putting their grief in words, additionally affixing black and white ribbons on the fences around the provincial hall.
