The Khakhay and Uamsa families hosted the “Apidhamm” rites with the presidents of four Pattaya-area Rotary clubs, plus past District 3340 Governor Pratheep Malhotra, Nov. 2.

Attending were Dzenana Popin, president of the Rotary Club of Jomtien-Pattaya; Rodney Charman, president of the Rotary Club of the Eastern Seaboard; Otmar Deter, president of the Rotary E-Club Dolphin Pattaya International, and Michel Roche, president of the Rotary Club Pattaya-Marina.

After the ceremony, which was also attended by members of the various clubs, everyone made donations to the temple, which were received by Phrathun Chaokhun Panya Ratanaporn, Wat Chaimongkol temple’s abbot.

“Rotarians hold a special place of love and the highest respect in our hearts for His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, for in 1955, on the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Rotary Club of Bangkok, His Majesty graciously agreed to be the Honorary Patron of Rotary in Thailand,” Peter said.

In Pattaya, temples are hosting funeral prayers as tribute to the passing of HM the King to show their love and loyalty. Most temples conduct similar activities, including funeral prayers, meditation, Buddhist teachings and other religious activities.

These are held to show that the Thais and foreigners are aware that the beloved Father of Thailand has worked hard for his people and his legacy will live in the hearts of his people forever.

The devoted subjects promised to carry out his royal instructions and teachings, including leading a life of self-sufficiency, being united in the service of the country and carrying on projects to support their communities and their fellow citizens.

Apidhamm funeral prayers will be held daily in most local temples until Nov. 14, with different organizations taking turns as host.
