There are at least three arrest warrants pending against Phra Dhammachayo, the abbot of Wat Dhammakaya, said Pol Col Paisit Wongmuang, director-general of the Department of Special Investigation.
The latest arrest warrant was issued by the See Khiew provincial court for Dhammachayo’s alleged forest encroachment for the construction of the World Peace Valley dhamma centre at Khao Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima.
Pol Col Paisit disclosed that the police had two arrest warrants against the controversial monk, including the one issued by the See Khiew court, while the DSI had one warrant concerning with alleged money laundering case.
Besides the DSI, he said there are the police who are ready to arrest Dhammachayo whenever there is an opportunity.
Regarding the money laundering case and the case regarding the acceptance of cheques from Klongchan Credit Union Cooperatives, the DSI chief said he was awaiting a response from the Office of Attorney-General expected on November 30 whether the monk would be indicted or not.
