Loy Krathong provided Pattaya couples with a few moments of romance, but their candle-and-incense floats took hours to clean up the next days when they washed back ashore.
A cleaning crew of about 15 people fanned out across Pattaya and Jomtien beaches Nov. 15, picking up the remnants of the celebration the night before.
Krathongs made of both natural and artificial materials probably looked lovely while floating away on the sea, but turned up on shore hours later a soggy mess.
It took hours to complete the job and authorities again urged future krathong floaters to go with biodegradable boats.
