Former Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome entered the monkhood in Bangsaen to pay homage to HM the late King.

The 42-year-old Itthiphol was surrounded by his political family – former cabinet minister and MP Sonthaya, Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization chief Wittaya and cousins who serve as mayors or sub-district administrators across Chonburi – at his Nov. 12 ordination at Jangcharoendon Temple.
Itthiphol expressed gratefulness for His Majesty’s kindness towards all Thais and being a major pillar of the country and Thai society. To show his thanks, he decided to take up the monk’s robes for a month, where he will serve as Itthiphol Teero.
