A former Italian embassy official hosted a double celebration, throwing a grand birthday party for his wife, and a 50th anniversary celebration for two compatriots.

Paolo Battaglino, the ex-liaison officer for the embassy in Pattaya, invited friends to the Nov. 12 bash at his home in Pattaya. Guests of honor for the evening were his wife Ket, and golden jubilee celebrants Francesca and Francesco Braggio of Italy.

Battaglino made two mountainous chocolate cakes himself for the occasion and provided a cold buffet with a seemingly unending supply of Italian specialties.

For the anniversary, Francesco Braggio presented a video telling the story her life with Francesco that she made and accompanied with an acapella song. Guests followed suit afterward with a song for the couple.

The casual and cozy party was pure Italian, with most the guests speaking in their native language.

The guests also gave Ket a rousing version of “Happy Birthday” and her husband made the crown swoon by dropping to his knees to profess his love to his wife.

A very romantic scene: Romeo, aka Paolo, sinks on his knees in front of his Juliet aka Ket.
