A heavy and well supported week of golf with the Haven group started out at the Greenwood course where the A & B courses were found once again to be in tip-top shape.
With enough players for three divisions it was decided to run with just the two with the cut coming at the usual 15 and below for the first division. That division was led in by Erik Donnestad after he won a three-way count back with a better 12 to 11 over the last six holes to leave Mark Cooper in second place after they had halved the nine in 18 apiece. Gus Guidetti took third with just 17 from the back nine and Dale Walton returned to the group, making an immediate impact in fourth just one more behind the front three.
The second division was taken by Shuichi Kodaka with a one under handicap return and two ahead of Frank Hughes in second place. There was a count back for third place that Chris Ross won with a better 24 to 17 to leave Tony O’Neal in the final podium position.
Gus Guidetti and Bruce Hilde shared the first division 2s pot while Shuichi Kodaka and Chris Ross did the same in the second division.
Wednesday, Nov. 23, Khao Kheow B & C – Stableford
CSS 73
Division 1 (0–15)
1st Garry Barling (8) 38pts
2nd Erik Donnestad (5) 35pts
3rd Rodney Nabbe (13) 33pts
4th Darryl Burkett (12) 28pts

1st Rod Crosswell (17) 36pts
2nd Patrick Scullion (20) 35pts
3rd Vinny Lazell (18) 32pts
4th Mike Hill (19) 27pts
Another well supported event for the fortnightly visit to Khao Kheow where the pristine B & C courses were the day’s test. Again we saw two divisions with the cut set at fifteen and below for the first division.
Garry Barling took the first division by three clear from Erik Donnestad after he returned an even double 19 points for the two halves. Rodney Nabbe improved his outward nine by one to lay claim to third, with Darryl Burkett slipping into fourth a few more back but well ahead of the rest of the division.
In the second division Rod Crosswell started very slowly, garnering just fifteen points from the outward nine, but he finished strongly with twenty one points to lead in the second division as Patrick Scullion took second spot just one off the pace.
Vinny Lazell took third prize with Mike in fourth some five points adrift but ahead of many more.
There were no 2s in the second division but Kevin Blake took the first division with his solo effort on B8 following a nine iron to two feet.

CSS 74

1st Vincent Gras (16) net 70
2nd Shuichi Kodaka (18) net 72
3rd Frank Hughes (20) net 74
4th Vinny Lazell (18) net 76
As usual the Monthly Medal field was split into two with the cut set at 15 and below.
The condition of the course was still not up to the standard of many others in the area where the green fee costs are much lower and this was added to poor marshalling which allowed a large group to insert themselves via two tees in the middle of our event.
In the first division Gus Guidetti took his first medal with the group after winning a count back over Garry Barling with a better 37 to 39. Erik Donnestad took third after he won another count back, edging Dale Walton with a better 36.5 to 38.
The second division was led in by Vincent Gras, two ahead of Shuichi Kodaka in second place with Frank Hughes third and Vinny Lazell signing off in fourth.
Following this final round of qualifying there are now twenty players through to the end of year Gold and Silver Medals in the first division and seventeen in the second division. The playoff event will be held at Pattaya Country Club on Friday the 30th December 2016.
Once again the pot begins to build, possibly awaiting the return of John Tallett from his sabbatical, as there were no 2s in the second division but Howard Jeglum made up for his disappointment in the competition with the sole one in the first division.
