We had 20 eager punters lining up at Soi Chaiyapoon to take on the not so easy but great conditioned Khao Kheow. Allocated the B & C nines and hitting from the yellow tees in warm weather with a sometimes breeze, the course was found to be in superb condition with the greens putting truly.
We ran with 2 flights today and in A grade Steve Younger showed that the easiest way to win was not get caught up in a count back. His 36 points saw him a shot clear of both JJ Harney and Mashi Kaneta who finished in that order courtesy of the count back.
B grade saw Pat Kavanagh coming up trumps with a tidy 36 points, followed by Mike Strage one point behind and Frank Riley a further three back in third.

Three bus loads plus cars were needed to ferry all the golfers to the Pattavia golf course on this sunny and clear day.
With continued wet weather still lurking at the end of this rainy season, it is a bit of an unknown as to what the condition of the courses will be when we get there. Fortunately this course was very presentable and playable, although the bunker sands were fairly compacted and the ground was heavy in places.
‘Lift clean and place’ was ruled on the fairways and first cut accordingly, and the white tees were elected as the yellows had not been handicap rated yet, due to new placements.
It was the Growling Swan Mug day, so a stroke round was in order and three divisions were allocated.
Today was also the Kevin Grose Memorial Shield competition, which commemorates a past friend who departed 4 years ago.
Only one golfer held his nerve and managed to beat par. Denis Steele (Steeley) took out the mug, the shield and the A Flight with a solid net 70 off his 12 handicap.
Frank Riley and Nigel Henson both recorded net 73’s off their handicaps to win the B & C Flights respectively.
