BANGKOK, Aug 15 – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is not satisfied with current plans by 17 ministries for resolving the continuing violence in Thailand’s Malays
ian border provinces, according to Defence Minister Air Chief Marshal Sukumpol Suwanatat.
The plans will be forwarded to the committee tasked with driving policies and strategies to deal with the southern violence, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Yutthasak Sasiprapa, who supervises security affairs.
The committee will see which plans or projects must be implemented urgently. Any unnecessary plan will be removed, he said.
“The prime minister is not satisfied with some points of the plans and those will be adjusted to fit the need. It is not difficult to do so, but it depends on the committee to revise them as needed,” the defence minister said.
Regarding a report about the distribution of pamphlets bearing messages threatening Thai Buddhists in the region, the defence minister said it is a part of insurgents’ tactics and the authorities are dealing with the problem.
