The Khao Talo Community and Public Health Department hooked up to train youths about the importance of recycling at a clean-neighborhood rally.
Community President Somkiet Dejpaiboon led the instruction for fourth-year Burapha University students Nov. 30. More than 40 people joined in to help separate trash and talk about the ill effects of poor waste management.
Students learned which items were recyclable, such as plastic and glass bottles, rubber, paper boxes, and plastic bags. The recyclables can be sold for extra income, they were told.
Other uses for old trash including recycling aluminum cans and bottle caps into artificial limbs for the disabled.
