Fallout from Malin Sky Pub brawl continues as hotel is shut down

After the well-publicized attack on the son of a Major General in the Royal Thai Army at the Malin Sky Pub by bodyguard hired to guard celebrities, officials visited the Malin Sky Pub and Core Chiang Mai Hotel owned by Ball Kritsana.

The Core Hotel Chiang Mai was shut down by government officials after it was found to be operating without a hotel license. The hotel is the site of the Malin Sky Pub where the son of a general was assaulted by bodyguards for celebrity customers.

Authorities found that the hotel was not licensed and was closed immediately. The owner surrendered to authorities the next day. The Deputy Governor announced that in addition to being unlicensed the bar was too close to the school and in violation of the laws it had been opened before the NCPO order 22/2015 was put in place and so need to be closed before midnight and could only sell cigarettes and alcohol as per the license that had been issued before the order.

However, the hotel was opened illegally and the government had ordered a crackdown on illegal hotels operating without a license.

On November 25 bodyguards assaulted the 23 year old Payap student Isaranuwat Wankawisan, son of Maj. Gen. Wittaya Wankawisan, Commanding General, the 38 Military Circle – Suriyapong Camp, Nan province. The bodyguards turned themselves into the police.
