The event, held on Friday the 25th, featured wines by George Wyndham winery from the Hunter Valley in South Eastern Australia.

The history of Wyndham estates spans nearly two centuries when George Wyndham planted Australia’s first commercial Shiraz vineyard in 1830; hence he is known as the father of Australian Shiraz.

However, to start the evening guests were treated to a perfectly chilled glass of Jacobs Creek Sparkling Trilogy NV Cuvee Brut which matched superbly with the beetroot gazpacho.

The George Wyndham Chardonnay (Bin 222) had traces of oak and a buttery finish and once again matched with many of the cold cuts on offer such as pork liver pate, smoked pork loin, pork bologna, mallard duck, and orange salad.

The guests moved onto the reds which included the Merlot (Bin 999) hinting of juicy red fruits, spice and nutty oak.

This was followed by the Cabernet Merlot (Bin 888) with its features of red berries, plum, mint, vanilla and oak. Lastly came the famous George Wyndham Shiraz, which is the number 1 mid-priced wine in Australia. It was a delight for all the guests and was the perfect accompaniment to red wine stew, the Nuremberg sausages with onion gravy, and the spicy chicken tikka masala.

The guests rounded off their evening with more creations by executive chef Shaun Venter including chocolate truffle cake, lemon meringue pie, coconut cake and a selection of cheeses.
