Monday, Dec. 5, Burapha – Stableford

14 players on a public holiday at Burapha is good going and a couple of folks got really good value judging by the amount of points they raked up!

I don’t think the Outback bus was ever hit by a golf ball before, but as Tawan drove up to the clubhouse at Burapha a Korean chap’s tee shot went haywire and ended up smacking a nice little dent in the minibus.  Tawan accepted the highly embarrassed Korean fella’s apology and we went on our way.

In 4th place today was Bob Lindborg who scored a very good 37 points, with 17 on the back-nine, but KB Lee outpaced Bob on the inward half to secure third place.  First and second places were an entirely different matter.  How often does one lose with 43 points!  In this case, the unlucky fella was Chris Thompson whose 22 points on the back nine only got him the silver medal.  John Langley shot a superb 3 over par back-nine that gave him 24 points out of his overall 43.  Great going John!

There were two 2’s from Chris Thompson and Bob Lindborg.

Wednesday, Dec. 7, Khao Kheow – Stableford

We had another good turnout for Khao Keow with a full 7 groups taking on the B and C courses.  Khao Keow is in really good condition at the moment and the greens today were in good nick.  It was also one of the most pleasant and cool days in a long while, and although some pin placements were in really tough positions the guys enjoyed a good day out with some very good scores.

In the B division, Gerard Lambert returned 37 points to give him third spot.  David Atkinson had another good round with 39 but lost on count back to Christopher Barr, one of our English friends enjoying a great vacation out here.

David Lloyd is also enjoying his holiday out here and a good 36 points saw him take third place in the A division.  Steve Mann had a good day out with 37 points for second and Thierry Petrement had an even better one to finish first with his 39 points.

KB Lee and Kim Danboise each recorded a ‘2’.

Friday, De. 9, Green Valley – Stableford

With a few more returning faces joining us, it is clear that high season is now in full swing as the courses get busier and busier.

With a full two division field, we awarded 5 spots in each division and in the B division, Dah again made it into the prizes (for the 2nd week running) with her 34 points.  In fourth place, Roy Johan Steinbach kept a good score going with 35 points, and with 36 but losing on count back was Bob Mattes in third.  Francis Bathurt took second place with a better back-nine than Bob’s and our French players did exceptionally well today as the winner of the B division was Pierre Zbiden with a great 40 points.

In the A division, Peter Lenory’s 36 points was good enough to land him fifth spot, Tony Oakes did well with 37 points to take fourth and John Stafford did even better with his 39 points for third place.  Pat Regan is returning to form and today he posted a great 40 points but that was only good enough for second place as the big winner of the day was JP Maffray on 42 points.  JP has been struggling with form lately, causing his handicap to creep up.  Let’s hope this win brings his handicap back to his real potential!

Three ‘2’s were recorded today, by Brad Jordison, David Lloyd and Jean-Philippe Maffray.
