The Café Kronborg golfers played East and South from the yellow tees at Navy on Monday. Playing the forward tees, expectations were for good scores but the challenge was still a tough one with only 2 people beating their handicap.
The course was in pretty good condition after the first few greens which had a few dodgy patches on them. The remainder were fine, albeit the usual slow pace here which saw a number of putts coming up short. Fairways were dry and hard, but had a reasonable covering of grass.
Kai Aabling took the A Flight with 37 points, beating Jesper Rasmussen into second place on a count back which went to the final 6 holes. Richard Kubicki was third with 36 points and Peter Bygballe came fourth with 35.
B Flight was the countback flight with only Elias Magnussen shining, taking first place with 36 points. The remaining 3 positions were decided on count back with everyone getting 30 points. Torben Sorensen took second with 16 points on the back-nine while Jan Lovgreen was third with 15 and Svend Gaarde fourth with 14.

Thursday was the Christmas Fayre tournament at Bangpakong for the prized Alec Chilcott Trophy. Everyone was a winner as the usual prizes were replaced by an entry fee of a wrapped golfing gift, with everyone picking a prize in the order of the results.
The journey up to Bangpakong always seems daunting, but today it took just over one hour door to door. It’s a long way in kilometres but not so in time (going at least).
The golf course, as always, was in good condition, however the greens were slow. This, added to a following wind that seemed to follow us around the course and was always in your face, meant that the stableford scores were surprisingly low with no one beating their handicap.
There was only one flight and Nigel Perry was the winner with a fine 36 points, having a crucial 4-pointer on the last hole. Tiziano Dal Pastro came a close second with 35 points while Walter Baechli was third with 33 and Richard Kubicki fourth on 32, beating Graham Buckingham on count back.
There was also a booby prize for being a trooper, coming last and continuing to play even though all hope had gone for the day. This was a tight fought position, but Eddie Glinsek claimed the spot with a score that will remain a secret never to be told.
A fun day was had by all and even the roadworks on the journey back couldn’t dampen the Christmas spirit.
