The popular Borsang Umbrella and Handicrafts Festival will be held in the town of Borsang in Ton Pao, San Kamphaeng from January 20 – 22, 2017. The event will feature the beautifully hand painted umbrellas along with OTOP crafts and the annual Miss Borsang Umbrella Festival contest featuring Chiang Mai beauties competing for the title.
The event also will have a parade of contestants for Miss Borsang Umbrella Festival on bicycles to promote the slow and traditional life found in the Chiang Mai countryside. The event is organized by the Ton Pao Municipality, Chiang Mai province and the Tourism Authority of Thailand Chiang Mai office every year and is a huge draw for locals and visitors.
The handicrafts are on display all day and the cultural performances and beauty contest will be in the evening. Entrance to the village is free.
