The team at Thai Farang Initiative (TFi) read in the Pattaya Mail about the plight of a local Thai man who is caring for his 13 year old daughter and needs some assistance.
TFi ventured out to meet the father, 37 year old Boonlert Thongloi, who lives in Banglamung where he tends for Wanmarin. Sadly she developed a brain infection at a very young age and this has left her mentally challenged.
She has very little in the way of communicative powers, merely a laugh and a smile or tears.

Her mother left her, leaving her father to care for her, so he subsequently had to give up his job as a local handyman in order to care for her.
Although neighbours have been quick to offer what help they can, with no income Boonlert is finding it hard to make ends meet.
On Friday the 6th of January, Rodney Charman, Greig Ritchie and Paul Strachan visited the family along with Marcus from the Pattaya Mail who acted as a translator and took a few photos.
Within moments it was plainly evident that the man loved his daughter dearly and he was delighted to welcome the team from TFi.
He explained that Wanmarin had difficulty swallowing, so only certain foods were suitable for her. Also one of the highest expenses that he has, is to supply her with pampers.
TFi donated some rice, noodles, canned fish, pampers and other essentials to make things a little easier for him and his daughter, and once a month TFi will check up on his situation and continue to assist him.
TFi would like to thank Pattaya Mail for bringing this sad story to their attention; however, they are very happy to assist in whatever way they can.
The Thai Farang Initiative was established 3 years ago to raise money by hosting fun music themed events with the proceeds going to the need in the community. TFi are currently putting an event together which should take place in March.
