Pattaya students were warned to stay on the right path and avoid sex and drugs during a seminar at the City Garden Resort.
Social Welfare Department chief Panee Limcharoen presided over the Jan. 6 workshop for junior high school students from the city’s 11 public schools and Photisampan Pittayakarn and Banglamung schools.
Four co-ed students from each institution met with volunteers, social workers, representatives from the Supanimit Foundation and teachers who stressed that youths can be easily misguided in this era of technology, games, drugs and underage sex.
Bad parenting is also a major cause of social problems that can affect the way of life for youths and their futures.
Organizers said youths need attention, persuasion and to be guided in the right direction. Therefore the Social
Development is stepping in and educating youths on the aspects of life at a younger age, showing them how it may affect their futures if they are misguided.
Teachers also were urged to pay more attention to students and respond to their needs and conditions.
The project is mainly to prevent youths from being targeted, abused and ensnared in sex, drugs and violence at a young age.
The hope is each group of four will tell their peers about potential risks, how to prevent them and to become involved in sports and other recreational activates.
