Regents International School Pattaya hosted two days of workshops for international colleagues from schools as far flung as Hong Kong and Jakarta on Thursday and Friday. Led by Regents Early Years specialists this year, the Job Alike Workshops (JAWS) are in-service training courses hosted by the Federation of British Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) affiliated schools to which teaching staff from member schools are invited.

These interactive workshops provide professional development opportunities for teaching staff as well as opportunities for networking with colleagues from around the world. Knowing of the in-house expertise at Regents, the FOBISIA committee accepted bids for three such conferences this year – one of which took place this Friday 20th and Saturday 21st January focusing on Early Years practice.

Workshops on Objective Led Planning, The Role of Singing in the EYFS classroom, The importance of Play, Mindfulness, Parental Engagement, Using Interactive Learning Diaries, Open Ended tasks and the Reception Environment were skilfully led by Regents Early Primary teachers who maximised the opportunity for professional discussion and the sharing of ideas in each and every session.

One delegate commented to Joanne Smith, the Regents Assistant Head of Primary who headed the whole event; “I have just returned from your JAWS weekend and I would like to say a huge thank you to you and your team for organizing the event. It was wonderful to meet other international early years practitioners and we have all come away with lots of exciting new ideas.”

Hosting events such as this is a statement of Regents’ passion for learning, its confidence in its experienced and talented staff and its commitment to becoming a learning ‘hub’ for schools in the surrounding area and beyond.
