Five Chiang Mai boys were arrested for stealing motorbikes were arrested in the Chang Puak area after a string of motorbike thefts late at night.
The five boys, ranging in age from 15 – 18 years old, were arrested at a home in Chang Puak with motorcycles with license plates from Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Bangkok and Lamphun.
Police in the area had received reports of motorbike thefts in the area and neighbors of the house called police noting there were a lot of motorcycles and suspicious activity. The five boys confessed to stealing motorbikes and would search around apartment blocks and homes looking for expensive motorcycles to steal. They told police that if the bike was not locked in place it could take them only 20 seconds to hotwire the bike. They told police that the bikes would be taken to Lamphun and sold for 7,000 – 8,000 baht and the money used to buy drugs.
