Pattaya-area police were handing out roses, not tickets, to law breakers on Valentine’s Day, hoping kindness kills them, rather than their bad driving.
Banglamung station deputy chief Pol. Lt. Col. Saranpope Srathongyu was manning checkpoints with other district officers Feb. 14 checking for traffic law violations, drugs and weapons.
Many people were caught not wearing motorbike helmets, driving without licenses and other infractions. But police handed them a rose and some advice, rather than a ticket.
Banglamung District Chief Naris Niramaiwong, who observed the operation, said 30 people were invited back to the station for a lecture on traffic laws and good driving. Unlicensed drivers were told to register and officers also dispensed information on vehicle standards.
