While Valentine’s Day was a day of love for most, it also was a day of crime for a few in Pattaya.

Pattaya and Tourist police were busy Feb. 14, catching three people who allegedly robbed tourists, as well as illegal hotels and massage parlor workers.

Among those busted was Ketsaraporn Prayuanharn, 38, for allegedly stealing the wallet of Indian tourist Vijayaraj Gannamutham, 58, in a 7-Eleven store on Soi 13/1; hotel maid Supaporn Songprakone, 31, for allegedly lifting the equivalent of 15,000 baht in various currencies from a Nepalese tourist’s Soi 12 guesthouse room; and Chayaporn Prapatsorn, 26, for allegedly lifting a smartphone from Jordanian Sameer Alawneh, 61, on Walking Street.

Chayaporn, from Uthai Thani, alleged another woman actually pickpocketed the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, then set her up by giving her the phone and leaving just as the cops arrived.

Pattaya police chief, Pol. Col. Apichai Krobpetch (left) said the arrests stemmed from stepped-up patrols of hotels, rental accommodations and entertainment venues on Valentine’s Day.
