Police checked CCTV footage and tracked down a 52 year old Canadian man named Christopher Markus at a guesthouse in town. He was questioned by police and his motorcycle confiscated as evidence.

The Canadian man was questioned by the Deputy Police Commander and admitted to hitting the child while he was overtaking another vehicle but wasn’t aware of the family crossing the street. He told police that he left because he was in shock and afraid as he is a foreigner on a visit to the country. He had rented the big bike to explore Chiang Mai. The man was charged with driving recklessly and his prosecution will be up to the court to determine.

The Spanish family said they love Thailand and visit every year, specifically during February but they don’t know if they will return again. They are only hoping that their daughter will recover soon.
