Pattaya’s new city spokesman wants to showcase tourist attractions that appeal to everyone and reinforce safety and convenience.
Speaking to reporters March 9, Pinit Maneerat said his first task is to address work on flooding, trash and traffic issues that concern residents, as well as the topic of prostitution in Pattaya, which recently grabbed the international headlines in a story he called “exaggerated”.
A major general when he retired from the Royal Thai Police, Pinit served as the provincial police chief in Chaiyaphum as well as spokesman for the RTP office, Highway Police and police academy.
While a career law-enforcement officer, he actually graduated university with degrees in journalism and public relations and, over the years, earned a solid reputation among Thai journalists as a reliable source and go-to guy for honest information and advice.
Now working for the city government, the former cop said he’s ready to work alongside new-generation reporters and answer questions from both residents and tourists.
While never posted to Pattaya while in the police force, Pinit said he’d visited the city many times and was now happy to be working here.
He said his goal is to make Pattaya a better place and attract as many tourists as possible.
