IPGC Golf from the Tara Court

Sunday, March 12, Green Valley – Monthly Medal

1st Ger Lodge (17) net 69

2nd Rod Torrie (11) net 72

3rd Joe Peters (20) net 74

4th George Pearson (21) net 74

5th Peter Wallace (22) net 75

Ger Lodge, who was going home on Tuesday, certainly knows how to finish off a holiday here in style!  After winning the Free Drop Cup this month and numerous other wins as well, he went out today and won the monthly medal with an excellent net sixty-nine.

Rod Torrie was the only other one to play to his handicap and he came second with a net seventy-two.  There were two players on a net seventy four with Joe Peters winning the count back to get third place and George Pearson losing out and having to settle for fourth.  Peter Wallace got the fifth and last place with seventy-five and Nick Caulfield got the only ‘2’ of the day.

Tuesday, March 14, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

1st Nick Caulfield (6) 34pts

2nd George Pearson (21) 32pts

3rd Joe Peters (20) 32pts

4th Russell Gilroy (18) 32pts

It looks like low season is now here with a bang as the group today was small.  We were here at Mountain Shadow again on a very quiet course which was in very good condition.

The scoring was bad today, probably because Ger Lodge had gone home!  Nobody managed to play to their handicap, with Nick Caulfield being the best of a bad bunch taking the win with thirty-four points.  We then had three players with thirty-two, with George Pearson coming out on top of the count back to take second place and Joe Peters taking the third and Russell Gilroy fourth.

Declan Kelly got the only ‘2’ of the day for a good payout.

Thursday, March 16, Greenwood – Stableford

1st George Pearson (21) 36pts

2nd Joe Peters (20) 33pts

3rd Declan Kelly (11) 32pts

4th Brian Angus (19) 31pts

5th Joe McArdle (15) 31pts

Today were again joined by our friends from the PFGS for another trip back here to Greenwood.  We played the A and B nines off the longer white tees and as usual this excellent value for money course was in great condition.

Maybe it was the strong breeze that affected the scoring, which today wasn’t great, with George Pearson, who has been playing steady golf on this trip, coming out the winner today with thirty-six points and being the only man to play to his handicap.  Joe Peters got second place with thirty-three points and Declan Kelly came third with thirty-two.

Brian Angus has just arrived and has obviously settled in quickly as in his first game he came fourth today with thirty-one points, edging out Joe McArdle on count back.  We had no ‘2’s.
