Monday brought 18 golfers for the Growling Swan’s outing to Khao Kheow, a favorite of many golfers in Pattaya.  We were playing C & A nines in that order and the course was in good nick, until the heavy rain hit.  Of course it then became quite steamy and most of our walkers found the going quite tough, particularly off the yellow tees with minimal run on the fairways, although this was not the case for all.

With the field being less than 20 in number we played one flight only with five placings in the run down.  It was Mike Johns yet again returning with a good score of 36 points who took the win for his third in a row, and five out of the last six.  Second in was Pete Bye two shots adrift and Mashi Kaneta came in third a further two shots behind.  Eric Black and Kae Dayton needed to go to the count back to decide fourth place with ‘The Judge’ getting the nod.

Seventeen golfers (both male and female) set out to take on Emerald Golf Course on Thursday, and with a Bt.1150 all-inclusive price I am surprised that we did not get a larger crew.  Playing from the white tees the course was in tip-top condition, with the greens playing true.  Great value for a very good course.

The weather was fine, a little on the hot side but no rain or any sight of it suited our players (or most of them).

It was Irish eyes smiling today as our friend JJ Harney returned to greet the judges with a fine 41 points.  Taking second position was Martin Kempton and we had to go to the count back for third as three golfers ended up with 33 points, with only two going to the podium.  Glenn Smith took out third place from his playing partner Steve Younger with Dave Maw being the unfortunate one to miss out.
