Rear Adm. Eakaraj Phomlampak opened the “Little Guides for Sea Turtle Conservation” project March 29 for 21 children of navy sailors who are students at Juksamet School.

The kids, ages 12-17, learned and practiced tour guide skills, taking visitors to the center and giving them information about the endangered turtles and the work the facility does.

Eakaraj said the project both instills in a new generation the need to preserve the Green and Hawksbill turtles, as well as give them a way to use their free time productively and earn a bit of money.
