Tuesday, April 4, Bangpakong Riverside G.C. – Stableford
On Tuesday we went to Bangpakong with 3 groups and it had been a long time since we last played here. The course was in good condition with nice fairways and good greens. The weather was humid and warm and fortunately we had no rain.
Some top scores came in today, especially from Paddy Devereux (H/cap 18) who was playing extremely well and won with 44 points. Sam Gettinby (22) took second place with 40 points, beating Dave Smith (10) on count back.
The near pins went to Dave Smith, Jonathan Pratt and Alex Everden.
Friday, April 7, Phoenix Gold G.C. – Stableford
This week we switched our Thursday golf to a Friday as Thursday was a holiday and the green fees were at weekend rates.
Phoenix was our venue and we went there with 2 groups, playing the Mountain and Lakes nines. The course was in a reasonable condition, the fairways were good and the greens quite fast, but not receptive. The weather was humid and warm once again and we got caught in a shower on the back-nine.
It certainly wasn’t ideal conditions for high scores and the winner today was Jonathan Pratt with 31 points, one ahead of Alex Everden and Paddy Devereux with Alex getting the nod for second place on count back.
The near pin prizes were claimed by Alex and Paddy.
