When it takes rocks and concrete blocks to keep parked cars from rolling down Pratamnak Hill, you know there’s problem.

That’s the case on the steep, winding route up to the Naval Radio Station viewpoint at the top of Pratamnak Hill. The site is one of the most-popular tourist spots in the area, but has parking space for just 20 vehicles.

As a result, the many Thai tourists who come from Bangkok on long holidays park in a long line on the narrow one way streets up and down the hill. Some are so nervous that their parking brakes can’t bear the load, they put big rocks on bricks behind their tires.

While there have been no reports of runaway cars causing a pileup, some frequent viewpoint visitors believe it’s just a matter of time and want the navy or Pattaya City Hall to come up with a better parking solution.
