Even as they work on new regulations and an insurance plan for the jet ski industry, Pattaya officials launched a snap inspection of beachfront vendors, warning them against continuing to cheat tourists.

Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh, who heads the committee planning the new regulations, escorted police, Marine Department and Bangkok ministry officials on the tour of Pattaya Beach Sept.  27.

Pattaya Police Superintendent Col. Thummanoon Mankhong informed jet ski operators about provisions of the new laws and penalties for breaking them.

Officials also warned vendors of several unregistered or damaged jet skis to pull their boats out of the water until they were brought into compliance. Officials said more inspections and regular patrols were planned on both Pattaya and Jomtien beaches.
