BANGKOK – The Office of Ten Divisions of Traditional Thai Crafts has collaborated with Si Bua Thong Handicraft Center and Koh Kerd Handicraft Center to produce the Patimok manuscript folding books for the royal cremation of His late Majesty.
Mr. Somchai Suphalakamphaiphorn, a senior Fine Arts Officer of the Applied Arts and Porcelain Division, the Office of Ten Divisions of Traditional Thai Crafts, the Department of Fine Arts, disclosed that the Office of Ten Divisions of Traditional Thai Crafts had collaborated with Si Bua Thong Handicraft Center, Ang Thong, and Koh Kerd Handicraft Center, Ayutthaya, to make the Patimok manuscript folding books, which will be one of the items offered to monks during the royal cremation ceremony of His late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
The Patimok manuscript folding books are modelled after Bowornniweswihara temple’s Patimok manuscript folding books, normally used for religious texts, royal chronicles and legal documents in ancient times. The cover pattern of the Patimok manuscript folding book was designed by Mr. Sudsakhon Chaisem.
In total, 41 Patimok manuscript folding books will be produced; 40 of them will be offered to monks from 40 temples and the remaining one will be kept in a museum. The books have reached over 50 percent completion and should be completed by September.
